About the Author

William Green is retired and lives in Albuquerque, NM with Ginny, his wife of 59 years. They have three children, seven very loving grandchildren, and growing list of great grandchildren. Bill worked as an analytical chemist, an R & D Chemist, a Vice President of R & D for an electronics manufacturer, and then started his own company to manufacturer electronic products produced with his own patents. He finished his career and an Environmental Scientist for the State of New Mexico.

During his time with Sanford Ink Company in the 60’s and 70’s, Bill developed a wide variety of new products and improved many of the company’s existing products.  Many of these products are still used today.

Sharpie is not the only enduring product Bill brought to life in his laboratory.  He did the brake-through formulations for todays write on/ wipe off markers that have made chalkboards obsolete.  A favorite with the kids, and two more generations of children since they were introduced, is the Mr. Sketch Scented Water Colors, which were promptly renamed “Smelly Markers” by the kids who used them.  Each new product came to life with a story of its own.  If you have ever used, or are currently using any of his laboratory developments, he would love to share those stories with you.  After you read his account of his Sharpie adventures, drop him a line.  Or to use a contemporary term, send him a message.  He would love to hear from you.
